To get a motorcycle license in Alabama, you need to follow a few simple steps. First, you must be at least 16 years old and have a valid Alabama driver’s license. If you don’t have one, you’ll need to apply for a regular driver’s license first.

Here’s how you can get your motorcycle license:

1. Complete a Motorcycle Safety Course: While it’s not required, it’s strongly recommended to take a Motorcycle Safety Foundation (MSF) course. Completing the course can waive the skills test and make the process easier.
2. Pass the Written Test: If you choose not to take the safety course, you'll need to pass a written test that covers motorcycle laws and road signs.
3. Pass the Road Test: If you didn’t take the safety course, you’ll need to schedule and pass a road test on a motorcycle, demonstrating your ability to handle one safely.
4. Apply for the License: Once you pass the written and road tests, or complete the safety course, you can apply for your Class M motorcycle endorsement at your local DMV. If you already have a regular driver’s license, you’ll just add the endorsement to it. If you’re a new rider, you’ll get a full motorcycle license.
