How old do you have to be to get a MOTO driver's licence in Virginia?
In Virginia, here’s how the process works for getting a motorcycle license:
- 16-17 years old: At 16, you can apply for a motorcycle learner’s permit after passing a knowledge and vision test. You must hold the permit for at least 9 months and complete a Virginia Rider Training Course to get your full license. A road skills test may be waived if you pass the course.
- 18 years and older: Adults can apply for a learner’s permit and hold it for at least 30 days before upgrading to a full motorcycle license. Completing the Virginia Rider Training Course can waive the skills test requirement.
For all ages, passing a vision and knowledge test is required before getting a permit. Ride safe!
