Step 3: Obtain a Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP)

To start training on commercial vehicles, you need to get a Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP) first. Here’s what you need to do:

1. Pass the Written Knowledge Tests: You’ll need to take several written tests, including:
   • General Knowledge: Required for all CDL applicants.
   • Air Brakes: If your vehicle uses air brakes.
   • Combination Vehicles: If you’re applying for a Class A CDL.
